The team at Kent Place Communications provides media relations, corporate communications, investor relations, and transaction communications support and counsel to businesses primarily in the financial services, alternative investment, real estate and technology sectors.

We work closely with senior executives to formulate effective communication and investor relations programs, providing strategic and execution support throughout the year. The team is integrally involved in all aspects of communications programming, including media relations, story placement and corporate website review. The team at Kent Place Communications also has broad experience planning analyst and investor days, corporate non-deal road shows and annual shareholder meetings.

Kent Place Communications executives also work closely with the senior management of private equity firms to develop both short and long term corporate communication goals, and to design original marketing materials supporting fundraising efforts. The team has coordinated deal announcements and managed all media coverage for several billions in private equity transactions.

Corporate
Communications

We understand that a company’s reputation is truly one of its most important assets. How a company is viewed by its key audiences — via traditional media, social media, or a corporate website — is vital to its continued growth and success in the marketplace.

We work with companies to identify the most pertinent messages and then develop an effective, strategic communications plan that involves website enhancement and copyediting, as well as social media engagements, to protect a company’s reputation and deliver these messages. We have a 4 step process that provides the foundation of any external communications plan:

01 Pitch your firm to our media contacts via press release or media statement, as well as proactive outreach to our network of 1000+ print journalists.

02Network with 200+ segment producers and bookers to raise your profile and increase mindshare via broadcast media.

03Utilize avenues of social media to market your content.

04Plan and coordinate in-house breakfast/lunch/cocktail meetings with key executives and interested media.

Changes in senior management, corporate governance, general business direction or approach to capital allocation and acquisition activity can lead to uncertainty among a company’s key stakeholders. In general, investors, employees and others can deal with good and bad news, but cannot tolerate uncertainty. Through an effective corporate communications program, it is our goal to neutralize and stabilize a situation, provide guidance to quell this uncertainty—whether or not the news is considered “good” or “bad”—and position a company’s corporate character and stability in the best light.

Investor Relations

Providing Investor Relations counsel is one of the core services at Kent Place Communications. Our goal is to help clients formulate clear and concise messaging for the investment community, thereby building confidence and credibility for companies among analysts and investors.

Kent Place Communications does not attempt a “one-size-fits-all” approach to investor relations, but rather tailors client specific outreach programs targeting sell-side analysts, institutional investors and members of the traditional and non-traditional financial media. Kent Place Communications will develop all documents related to your investor relations effort including, but not limited to:

01 Earnings Press Releases

02Conference call scripts

03Earnings Q&A documents

04Employee memos

05Shareholder letters

06Investor/Analyst Day presentation materials and scripts

07Annual Meeting presentation materials and scripts

We will also conduct IPAS (Investor Perception and Assessment Surveys) for clients, speaking directly to analysts and investors, to gauge feedback on your company’s business strategy and leadership. Participants selected by the company are asked several questions over the phone, with all answers tallied and organized into a final memorandum. The feedback we obtain from these surveys is kept confidential and is vital to maintaining the freshness of your investor relations effort. Knowing where you stand with the investment community allows us to help you craft and consistently update your messaging.

Transaction
Communications

The team at Kent Place Communications has participated in some of the largest, most publicly scrutinized debt and equity transactions in recent years.

We have advised clients on negotiated M&A, hostile offers and defenses, financial restructurings and bankruptcies. We understand that transactions often involve constant, round-the-clock communication between our client and its team of closest advisers, including lawyers and investment bankers. We work with these advisers to ensure that a strategic communications plan, as well as an effective media strategy, is firmly in place before the transaction is announced.

Our approach to transaction communications is very straightforward. At Kent Place Communications, we:

01 Help clients define clear, concise messages about the deal, emphasizing value creation for all parties involved;

02Design detailed rollout plans for the days leading up to, including, and post-announcement day;

03Craft all communications materials for all constituencies including employees, investors, analysts, partners, customers and regulatory agencies;

04Work with outside vendors to create specific transaction websites; and

05Monitor both investment community and financial media reaction, providing our clients with timely feedback.

Media Training

As part of our media training workshops, we aim to demystify the interview process by teaching participants the best ways to interact with the media, with a focus on achieving positive press coverage.

Appearing on camera or speaking one-on-one with a reporter can seem daunting to even the most experienced speaker. As part of our media training workshops, we aim to demystify this interview process by teaching participants the best ways to interact with the media, with a focus on achieving positive press coverage.  Our sessions are designed to make you feel comfortable, confident and relaxed on camera while enhancing your verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Our goal is to help you understand the mindset of a reporter, maximize control during an interview and most of all – to stay positive.

Depending on the number of participants in any given training session, we can provide half-day or full-day media training programs to fit any budget or timeframe.  We provide in-depth media training to employees and executives of all levels – regardless of title, whoever is interacting with the press should have basic media training.

Some elements of the media training workshop include:

01 A high level discussion of media and the key participants;

02A cursory review of presentation skills, interview do’s and don’ts, the importance of responding to questions directly and on message, the beauty of “sound bites”, etc.;

03A 3-minute recorded interview based on your specific topic of expertise; and

04Playback and critique of the recorded interview, providing constructive feedback and helpful tips.
